Elizabeth’s Flair

Elizabeth’s Flair, “Alice”

Bio: Alice is a New York bred filly who retired from racing in July 2013. In her final race on July 17, 2013, she was claimed and sent to her new trainer at Finger Lakes Race Track. Although she placed 2nd in a field 8 in her last race, she was never started again after being claimed. Alice started her career after being sold for $15,000 (Hip #410) as a yearling in the Fasig-Tipton August 2011 sale. She was then sold as a two-year-old for $9,000 (Hip #153) in the Fasig-Tipton Mixed May 2012 sale. Alice went on to start racing as a three year old and had 4 starts with 1 third for $9,620 in total lifetime earnings. From only four starts, she was claimed twice, once for $20,000 and then in her last race for $16,000. She has 10 half siblings and one full sibling named Roman Jetsetter.

Alice came into our care after contact from the dealer who we previously got T F Javana Miss and T F Bobbi Lynn from. Quick negotiations were made as “the auction is tomorrow” and we were able to secure Alice, Ghostly Vision and Heartfelt Jazz from heading to Unadilla. All three arrived on July 18, 2014 and were immediately placed in quarantine at our rented barn just up the road from our main facility.

Of the three thoroughbreds, Alice was in the best shape. She was closest to her optimal weight and although she has some sun bleaching, appeared to be in decent condition. Alice does have a bump on her right front knee that doesn’t appear to be tender at this time. We have contacted her former racing connections and are supposed to be sent her papers and medical records. Alice did see a vet for a checkup, Coggins and rabies vaccine just a few days after her arrival.

Alice is definitely the boss mare of the three horses but is very sweet and wants to be the center of attention around people. She will follow you around and snuggle and enjoys being fussed over. She completed her 30 days of QT and was moved to our main facility. She left to go to a foster on August 29, 2014 and has been receiving one on one dressage and trail training. She had her knee injected in November and has been sound since. She is available for adoption as a trail, low level dressage mount.
