Anothershotofhenny, “Dunkin”

Bio: Dunkin is an unraced New York bred who came to us on March 11, 2014 via networking on Facebook. Although only 3, Dunkin had a string of bad luck that prevented him from ever racing. He is a roarer (he has recurrent laryngeal neuropathy or RLN) meaning his larynx in his throat is partially paralyzed. During hard work, such as galloping, Dunkin might have trouble getting enough oxygen and the paralysis results in a roaring noise. Dunkin was also treated for EPM (equine protozoal myeloencephalitis) at 2 years old. Prior to his arrival at our facility, he was kicked in the pasture resulting in a large knee blemish. We had his knee x-rayed upon arrival and the blemish is purely cosmetic.

Dunkin is a tall, handsome boy and should be fine for a career less strenuous than racing. At only 4, he is still growing and maturing. He did attend the Fasig-Tipton August 2012 Yearling sale (Hip #384) priced at $14,000 but RNA’d. He has two half siblings and one full sibling, a mare named Penny Pulpit. Dunkin has a good personality and a willing nature – a big goofball! He was placed into an adoptive home in Upstate NY on September 6, 2014. Dunkin was then transferred to another adopter on October 24, 2014 following a call from the barn owner from where he was boarding regarding nonpayment. Dunkin returned and was again adopted April 2, 2015. We had to repossess him on June 15, 2015 as his adopter wasn’t taking care of him and he started moving barns. Dunkin gained back 200+ pounds and his hooves were being rebalanced. Dunkin was finally adopted on August 19, 2015.
