Dunwoody Girl

Dunwoody Girl, “Gigi”

Bio: Gigi is an Illinois bred who retired from racing a war horse with 52 starts. Her final race was in March 2013 and shortly after she was involved in a starvation case for Animal Control in West Virginia. Through networking efforts by an ACO, The Homes for Horses Coalition, Fleet of Angels and Fast Track Horse Transport, Gigi was quickly and safely shipped from West Virginia to our facility in New York on July 12, 2013. Gigi arrived in good condition thanks to the rehabilitation efforts of West Virginia Animal Control.

Gigi began her career under the registered name of Sixth of June. Her name was later changed to Dunwoody Girl and she was sold in the 2007 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearing Sale for $2,700 (Hip #1011). Gigi started racing as a 3 year old and went on to race 52 times, winning 2 firsts, 5 seconds and 8 thirds for $44,055 in total lifetime earnings. Gigi was Breeders’ Cup Nominated and has two half siblings. She was started professionally at a nearby facility and then continued her training with us, both on the flat and over fences. She was schooled at two shows in 2013 and demonstrates the amazing athleticism that her bloodlines would suggest. Gigi is tall, dark and gorgeous with a sweet personality. She was adopted out locally on March 8, 2014 but her adopter decided she no longer had the time for Gigi in August 2014. Gigi will be returning to our facility shortly and is available for adoption. She showed over fences at our Thoroughbred Jubilee Benefit Horse Show on July 6th, 2014.

Tracks Attended: Mountaineer and Thistledown.
