Carpe Diem

Carpe Diem, “Diego”

Bio: Diego was a super athletic, handsome Kentucky bred gelding by Grand Slam. He sold for $215,000 at the 2004 Fasig-Tipton New York Saratoga Select Yearling Sale (Hip #97) and then went on to start racing as a two year old with 23 lifetime starts. Diego earned 2 firsts, 2 seconds and 4 thirds for $35,536 during his racing career. He was Breeders’ Cup Nominated and has five half siblings. Retired from racing in June 2008, he came to us from a local barn and spent a few years learning to jump before going to his new home prior to 2011. Diego excelled at jumping and on the flat and earned many ribbons at various shows. He also traveled to clinics around the northeast, including EAP, and was ridden by both Anne Kursinski and Candice King. Diego was humanely euthanized on July 16, 2012 in his loving owner’s arms following a freak pasture accident. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
