Flag Is Flying, “Grover”
Bio: Grover is a NY bred OTTB gelding who retired from Belmont Park in July 2008. He started racing as a 3 year old and had just 8 lifetime starts and earnings of $17,248 from 1 first and 1 third. Grover has three half siblings and one full sibling, Senor Shayne. We found Grover listed on various Facebook pages being advertised for stud services and for sale in late 2014. On January 15, 2015, we purchased him thanks to a donation from the Murrell Foundation and sent him straight to the vets for gelding. His successful gelding procedure was funded by One Horse At A Time, Inc., and he arrived to our facility on January 16, 2015. Grover is the 18th equine to be gelded as part of our Social Club Initiative Gelding Program since 2012.
Grover was thin but wormy upon arrival. He was given time to fatten up and heal from his gelding procedure before starting any evaluation under saddle. He was also wormed. Grover is an easy-going guy who definitely had previous work under saddle, both Western and English. He easily got back into training and was even used in some lessons. Once healthy, Grover was listed for adoption and was adopted along with Rizzo (JC: Sand Box) on February 25, 2015 by Hunter Landing Equestrian.
Tracks Attended: Belmont Park, Aqueduct and Finger Lakes.
