Don’t Tell My Wife, “Matty”
Bio: Matty is a New York bred who retired from Finger Lakes Race Track in December 2009. As a yearling, he went through the Fasig-Tipton New York Saratoga Yearling Open 2006 Sale (Hip #551) for $1,000 but did not sell. Matty went on to start racing as a 3 year old and ran 23 times, earning 1 first and 1 second for $17,536. He has four half siblings. At some point in 2010 or 2011, he was purchased off Craigslist by a riding facility in the Catskills and was used for a riding camp. He was eventually listed for sale but with little interest, was faced with the threat of being sent to Unadilla auction. Thanks to networking on Facebook, we were able to step up and bring him and his stablemate Justin (Fascinating Star) to our facility, preventing them from being sent to auction and potentially ending up in a bad situation.
Matty was thin upon arrival to our facility on October 18, 2013 but otherwise in good health. He has been enjoying the last few months at a local barn with Storm (Eyes On The Storm). He has had a few leisurely trail rides since his arrival and is now in good weight. Matty is a handsome horse who loves the mud and hanging out with his horsey friends in the pasture.
Tracks Attended: Finger Lakes, Presque Isle Downs, Philadelphia Park, Monmouth Park, Belmont Park and Aqueduct.
