Dutch Smoothie, “Smoothie”
Bio: Smoothie is a New York bred who retired sound from Finger Lakes on August 10, 2013. Smoothie’s final race was in May and afterwards he ended up living in a stall at the track without a job for a few months. He was listed with Finger Lakes Finest Thoroughbreds as needing urgent placement, still an intact colt with nowhere to go. With the donations we received from the Monzante Memorial Fundraising Challenge, we were able to bring Smoothie to our facility where he was gelded on August 21, 2013 (our 10th gelding procedure!).
Smoothie began racing as a 3 year old and had 8 starts, never placing and earning only $1,260. He has nine half siblings. Smoothie is all recovered from his gelding procedure and has been started under saddle with dressage work. He was adopted by a volunteer on March 20, 2014 and will continue his dressage training!
