East End Boy

East End Boy, “Murphy”

Bio: Murphy is a New York bred who retired sound from Finger Lakes on October 10, 2011. Murphy’s racing career started in 2006 when he went through the Fasig-Tipton MidAtlantic Eastern Fall Yearling Sale (Hip #124) listed at $9,500 but did not sell. He then went to the 2007 Ocala Breeders Sale Company Spring Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale (Hip #222) listed for $20,000 but again did not sell. Murphy started racing as a 3 year old and ran 34 times, achieving 2 firsts, 1 second and 5 thirds, earning a total of $23,508. He has seven half siblings.

Murphy was one of the first thoroughbreds we purchased from Finger Lakes and one of the first horses we looked at during our inaugural trip to the back side in October 2011. This visit was the start of the transition to the organization we are today and Murphy serves as the mascot of our organization. With a quirky personality and great hunter-type conformation, Murphy is used in our riding education program as a lesson horse and show mount to children and adults alike.

Tracks Attended: Finger Lakes, Aqueduct, Penn National, Monmouth Park, Belmont Park and Saratoga.
