Mommy’s Dearest

Mommy’s Dearest, “Ginger”

Bio: Ginger is a New York bred OTTB mare retired from Finger Lakes Race Track. She and another mare, Potnia’s Song, were given away to a “good home” on September 13, 2014 only to end up with a dealer just a month later on October 16, 2014. We recognized an ad on Craigslist for two thoroughbreds as being from a dealer we have previously gotten two thoroughbreds from. We networked quickly and were able to purchase both thanks to a generous donation from John Murrel. Both arrived to our facility on October 19, 2014.

Ginger started racing as a three year old and earned $63,069 from 34 starts; 1 first, 6 seconds and 4 thirds. Ginger had been pulled up and vanned off following her final race on July 1, 2014. At that time, she bowed her left front tendon and retired from racing. She was given July 2014 to March 2015 off and her bowed tendon is now cold set. Ginger attended our Thoroughbred Jubilee Benefit Horse Show in July 2015 and the Chemung County Fair Horse Show in August 2015. She was adopted on August 2, 2015 to a girl who has been taking lessons at our facility for a few years. Ginger has five half siblings.

Tracks Attended: Finger Lakes, Aqueduct and Belmont Park.
